Principal's Message

Dear Garfield Middle School Families,

My name is Jesse Funston, and I am your Principal at Garfield Middle School. As a graduate of Hamilton High School and having spent the past 14 years as both a teacher and administrator in the district, I am proud to continue serving a community that means so much to me.

Garfield Middle School holds a unique and powerful place in the middle school experience. These years represent a critical time of transition, growth, and discovery as students take a major step forward in their academic and personal journeys. Our mission here is to ensure that every student is supported, challenged, and equipped with the skills they need, not just for success in middle school, but as they prepare for high school and the years that follow.

At Garfield, we believe in the power of connections among students and staff, the school and family, and learning and life. Through our strong instructional team and a culture rooted in belonging and high expectations, we are committed to creating an environment where every student feels seen, valued, and prepared to thrive during these pivotal years.
